Our weekend in the country

This past weekend we went up to my parents to hang out. Its always a nice getaway for me when we go up there because that means I don't have any responsibilities there except my kids.....and whatever my mother has me help her with! ;o)
Its always peaceful for me to go back to the land where I was raised and just relax and enjoy the quietness of the country. I appreciate it a lot more now than I ever did growing up.

Friday night, on the way up, we stopped and meet my family at Catfish Cabin and celebrated my mama's birthday. Nuttin' like some good ole fried fish, shrimp (I got grilled though!) and hushpuppies!! =o)

On Saturday, my parents put on an 'Old Timey Plow Day' which they do twice a year. This was the first one I have been able to attend and it couldn't have been a better day for it! It was a gorgeous sunny day with not a cloud in the sky and the temp around 75 degrees. It was fun to see people bring their teams of mules and pull old timey plowing equipment & buggies like the pioneers would have done. The kids played outside ALL day long and it was nice to not be around the tv, computer, & phone for a day. They even cooked lunch in dutch ovens.....cowboy stew, cornbread, pumpkin cobbler and & apple cake!! It was soo good!
Oh the simpler times!!

How fun! I'm so jealous of your family because they get to hang out with you all the time now. We miss you guys! I'm glad you are getting to use your cowgirl boots again, Carman!
