Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Since the kids are on Spring Break this week
I wanted to do some fun things with them instead
of just sittin around going crazy at home.
So I got the bright idea to take them (by myself)
to the HLSR since I had never been and it was Military Day.

Well, to keep the story short......
it was a HUGE mistake to take 4 kids (especially with a stroller)
to that over priced zoo of a place during Spring Break on an 80 degree day!!
Then had to fight crazy rush hour traffic on the way home!!!
uggghhhhh!!
Nuff said!

all ready to walk a half mile across the parking lot

getting ready to watch the milking demonstration

a Jersey cow named Sunny

Jersey cows can produce anywhere from 4-6 gallons a day.
Holsteins (the black and white cows) can produce up to 12 gallons a day!!!

Longhorn

the Birthing Center...
here is a chart of animals born during the Rodeo

I thought this was cute....
the cow's name is June and they named her calf Johnny.

I am SO glad I'm not a sow aka mama pig....
I could not imagine having 11 babies!!

poor Gabe all tuckered out

baby chicks starting to hatch

older baby chicks

cool truck!!

since it was Military Day they did a
Salute to our Troops...
this guy is one of the Directors of the HLSR
and he was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam.

making Daddy jealous by sitting in his dream truck....
a King Ranch Edition Ford

this is the only reason I go to these things....
for the FOOD!!!

*Lesson learned for next year---won't be taking any kids!!!!

sorry it was hectic with the kids! I can only imagine! However, 80 degree weather?! I'm so jealous!
