While Taylor & Jayde were in Dallas visting my Aunt, I got the opportunity to take Devyn to the Holocaust Museum in Houston. My friend Teri and two of her girls Rebecca & Sarah Jean came with us. It was quite sad, depressing, eye opening, educational, and moving as you can imagine. They wouldn't let us take pictures inside so we only got a few pictures where we could. It was very eye opening and moving especially for Devyn. They had studied alittle about the Holocaust in Social Studies this last year at school. She & Becca watched a video at the end that had survivors telling their personal stories and they came out almost in tears of sadness. To put it in perspective for her, the volunteer in the lobby that I had been talking to asked her how old she was and Devyn said she was almost 12.....the lady said "Well to give you an idea of what would have happened if you had lived in that time....you would have been sent to the gas chamber or been killed because you weren't old enough to work.....children had to be 13 or older to work at that time." Devyn's jaw hit the floor. Very humbling.
(didn't even realize this was in black & white till I put it on my computer)
Our hearts ache and go out to all those who had to suffer and endure this horrible experience some 60 years ago...and to those families who still live with that pain through their ancestors. May you never be forgotten.

I have been to 3 of those concentration camps that have the ashes (in Poland). Sobering indeed. Someday you'll have to visit the museum in DC.
