This explains it........

From the Superintendent of our School District.........

"I would like to share with you why Clear Creek Independent School District is still not open for learning. In the wake of Hurricane Ike, 39 of CCISD’s 40 schools suffered some level of damage including roof failures, rising water, and broken glass. Our crews and contractors are working around-the-clock to repair roofs, remove water, and clear debris. We have made great progress but much still needs to be done. As of September 19th, we have 7 schools still without power, 2 schools with limited to no working sewer system, 8 schools under roof repair, and not to mention vast power outages in the neighborhoods we serve.

I realize for working parents this may be an added hardship. Please know the safety of your children and our staff is of utmost importance to us. We simply can not have buses on the road with the sheer number of non-working street lights or children sharing a bus stop with a pile of debris. We also have more than 400 CCISD employees who are dealing with significant property loss and are not ready to come back to work."

Isn't it fortunate that you stay home with the kids instead of working outside the home? Although, I'm sure you're anxious for them to go back. :)
