We are getting ready to leave today and head to Austin to go stay with family so we can get away from unpredictable Ike. It keeps getting closer and closer to making landfall at Galveston.....and we're only 25 miles northwest of there! (We are in between were it says Galveston and Houston on the map above if you're not familiar with where we live) Courtney got called into work at 4:30am to secure their building and school got canceled today and tomorrow for the kids. So I am getting things together to be loaded up before the kids wake up so all we have to do is wait on Courtney. As of right now there is no mandatory or even voluntary evacuation for Galveston County (where we live) or Harris County (greater Houston) except for low lying areas so I'm praying it will stay that way for a little while so we can get to the other side of Houston before all the other crazies get out!
hahaha
We are just praying for the safety of everyone that will be affected by Ike
and that we will have a house to come back too.
We will be in touch and post as we find out more info.

Good luck, you will be in all our prayers.
Good Luck! I'm glad you're leaving early.. that is such a good idea. I was scheduled to leave the New Orleans airport about the same time Katrina hit. But the night before the military base in Biloxi (where Russ was training at the time) got word to evacuate and bunker down. So I got about a 2 hour start before all the madness hit with evacuations... I'm so thankful!
Can you believe we never had to evacuate when we lived down in Florida?! Crazy!
Good luck guys! I'm glad you're near family :)
Caramn I hope ya'll are already on the roads b/c it is already backed up in your area!! I'll be thinking about you guys and praying for your safety.

OMGosh I pray that its not bad at all and you guys stay safe.
Nice to hear what your plan is! The rest of the Houston Hinsons (at least our side) are staying put I guess. That makes me just a little nervous, my sister and parents are also staying home. We are praying for everyone's safety through this big nasty one! Good luck, and we hope your new beautiful home stays safe.
