Update........

We have safely arrived at Courtney's brothers house...
Torry & Lexy's....in Marble Falls (Austin area)

We got off to a slow & frustrating start.....Courtney forgot to shut the garage doors so luckily he was only about 5 mins down the road so he could turn back, I was trying to find a place to top off my tank (i had 3/4 full of gas but I was worried we'd get stuck in 20 hours of traffic and I'd need that 1/4 of tank) and every store around was either out of gas or had a line 10 miles long, then I couldn't find a working ATM and when I did it would only let me take out $100 at a time, then Courtney had to go by work last minute because somebody got some code on some paperwork wrong and it couldn't wait till after the hurricane....ugh!!...needless to say I was quite frustrated getting started!

I-45 by our house was crazy leaving but when we got on the loop to go west around Houston it was pretty easy going from there.
It was heavy at times but still flowing at least 35 mph to the speed limit so as long as we were moving I was fine and keeping sane. hahaha!!

We saw 37 tour buses (devyn counted them all) with a police escort going the opposite direction ....probably to go help people leave the city.

Then we drove upon 6 or 7 Houston police trucks pulling their horses in huge horse trailers escorted by a couple of cop cars and I got beside the one that decided to have a blow out!! Luckily I was in the left lane and they were in the center lane so they moved over to the right. They were all following each other so they ALL pulled over to the shoulder to stick together. We got about 10 miles down the road and pulled over to finally top off with gas and get some Sonic for lunch and they went by and got in front of us again when we were about to get on the highway. Well I'll be danged if they didn't start slowing down and pulled over AGAIN cause another trailer had a blowout!! Poor Houston Police guys.....and especially those poor horses having to sit in those hot trailers while they got the tires fixed!!!
I hope they finally made it to where they were going!

We left Houston around 10am and got here about 4:15 so I'd say we were really lucky beating all the traffic out and traveling with 5 kids and a dog! About noon my sister called and said that I45 in Houston had gotten crazy bumper to bumper cause they had ordered a mandatory evacuation for our area. I'm glad we got out when we did!!

Now the latest forecast shows that the center of that thing is probably gonna go over our house or close to it if it keeps on the track its headed. So now that's my worry....is how much damage our house is going to sustain and worry about all our crazy family members who have decided to 'ride it out' at their houses right there in the middle of it!!!! ugh!! I am praying for you ALL!!

I do feel MUCH better being here than there. The further I got out of Houston the less stressed and more at ease I felt. I was a nervous wreck this morning (as you can imagine) trying to get everything together and loaded this morning and trying to make sure I didn't forget anything important.

We'll be praying for you too! I've got my brother in Houston too. He works at the big cancer hospital, so he's off work. I think they are staying put, but they are not near as close to Galveston as you are. I never worried about hurricanes that much, but moving down here sure changed that fast!!! Hope all goes well for you and your house! Keep us posted...we will all be anxious to know.

Glad you guys made it out okay. Aaron evacuated with some other guys to San Antonio but LEFT his car in Corpus Christi. But now it looks all clear for Corpus. Hope that your house is safe.

I'm glad you put updates on here. CHristian tried a couple of times this week to call Devyn and no one answered so we were hoping you guys were ok. Hope your house is ok when you're able to go back! I am sure thankful to be away from the hurricane thing, but I don't know about all the natural disasters we had to trade for hurricanes, atleast you have a good warning ahead of time. Let us know if there is anything you need.
