Our house seems to have made it through Ike just fine with no scratches on it. The only thing we're not sure of is if there was any water leakage anywhere in our house. We know that there is no power and gas stations are limited with gas and food there right now. Courtney got recalled into work so after we got out of church he headed back to Ellington to report. He just got there this evening so he has not had a chance to get out to our house and really get in there and check everything out. I'm hoping he'll get to do that in the morning.
All our family that stayed in the area made it through just fine with no major damage to their houses. They were all protected and made it through safely. A couple of them have even gotten power restored already! They are saying it could take anywhere from a week to 60 days to get all the power back on in Southeast Texas!
(My family up in the country were without power for 3 weeks when Rita hit 3 years ago!!)
Its been a crazy emotional ride with this whole experience!
Thank you to all of you who have been praying for us and had us all in your thoughts. We are truly grateful! We are continuing to pray for those who have lost their houses or had significant damage to their homes. There is a lot of work to be done and I am anxious to get back and help others out.
We will probably head back as soon as our power gets restored as we do not have a generator yet. I can't imagine being in a 2 story house with 4 kids, no a/c, and living pretty much like the 'pioneer times' trying to keep them entertained and happy. So we're just gonna preserve what sanity I have left and go back when they get the electricity going again. =o)

The only person with significant damage to their house was my sister. Luckily they had evacuated to Dallas but a pine tree fell on the backside of their garage. Also, something hit the roof on the other side of the house and a ceiling joist in the attic broke off somehow and went through the ceiling in one of the girls rooms and is laying on the bed. My brother in law is headed back there tomorrow to cut the tree down and try to get as much as he can cleaned up and the generator going so my sister and their girls can maybe try to go home by the end of the week or early next week.
I have pictures on my phone of my sisters house that as soon as I get off I will post them.

Hooray! I am so happy for you. How scary this all must have been, especially since you just got moved in and all. Good luck with the power...I think it is a good idea to ride it out there until they get it back on. I would go CRAZY!
Carman, We're glad to hear that your house made it through ok. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your power to be restored!
Carman,
Glad to hear that you are safe and that you didn't have any damage! We got hit with the hurricane all the way up here in Ohio and powers been out for days. Ours just kicked back on so I'm blogging....
